Online Master of Marriage and Family Therapy

Your Success is Our Mission

The online Master of Marriage and Family Therapy (MMFT) program originating from Campbellsville’s Louisville campus is designed with the flexibility you need to pursue graduate education while balancing work, family, and other responsibilities. Through a distinctly relational and systemic approach, you will learn to understand people in the context of their relationships, families, communities, and broader social systems while earning an affordable degree that prepares you for the next step in your professional career.

Through convenient online coursework, you’ll engage in a curriculum accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) and taught by experienced faculty. Coursework emphasizes marriage and family therapy theories, relational assessment, systemic case conceptualization, couples and family therapy, addictions counseling, working with children and adolescents, crisis and trauma, and other areas central to effective marriage and family therapy practice. Students can complete the program in as few as two years and pursue the additional requirements necessary for state licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). Graduates can also continue developing their professional knowledge through free continuing education opportunities offered by CU.

The MMFT program combines synchronous and asynchronous online learning with supervised clinical experiences. Academic coursework is completed online, while practicum and externship experiences allow students to develop their clinical skills through direct work with clients in the communities where they reside. Clinical training is designed to help students translate systemic theory into practice, strengthen relational assessment and intervention skills, and develop the ability to work effectively with individuals, couples, and families.

Campbellsville University faculty provide guidance, mentorship, and clinically relevant education throughout the program, supporting students as they develop their professional identity as marriage and family therapists. Our affordable online format offers the flexibility to pursue graduate education while continuing to meet work, family, and personal commitments. Request information to learn more.
